23: Faking It with The Big Fake Wedding CEO Jennifer Ammons

Jennifer Ammons, CEO of The Big Fake Wedding, came on to talk about her company which puts on weddings throughout the country, which are Big and Fake. There are flowers and food and cake and music and dancing. The couple getting fake married is usually someone renewing their vows, while the guests are engaged couples so they can see wedding vendors in action.

So it’s like a wedding show, but you get to actually see the vendors in action. I love the concept! Because at most wedding shows before, and they can be beneficial, but you don’t really get to show off what you can do. And for couples, it’s tough to figure out from just a short interaction with a vendor if that’s who you want to hire.

Jennifer explains it all in the show today!

The Big Fake Wedding in Raleigh is Thursday, September 20th at the Merrimon Wynne House, and we will be there as guests! If you’re a wedding vendor in the Raleigh area, and you want to get involved, there are still a couple slots open! You can head over to thebigfakewedding.com/apply to get in touch with the Big Fake Wedding team! For couples, tickets are $25 each, and you can purchase here. If you happen to go, come say hi, we’d love to chat with you!

We didn’t get the ad read in time for the show today, but we are happy to welcome Honeybook as a sponsor! At A Southern Soiree, we’ve been using Honeybook since February 2015. I think we were one of their very first clients, and it has truly been a life changer. They make proposals and contracts super easy to use on both our side and the client side. I think before Honeybook I would send proposals and contracts by email, and the client would have to mail the contract to us or fax it by efax. Proposals were in no way streamlined either, so this has made our lives so much better. As a consultant, whenever I sign up a vendor client, one of the very first recommendations I make is Honeybook. No need to complicate things – it works, it’s great…just get it. And if you follow this link, you get 50% off your first year of Honeybook with my promo code, which is nice, but not nearly as nice as all the time you’re going to save. And if you have any questions about my experience, feel free to send me an email to megan@weddingsforreal.com.
