34: On Top of Beech Mountain: Overlook Barn Owners Katie Elder and David Schumann

The Overlook Barn on Beech Mountain (North Carolina) is an absolutely stunning wedding venue both inside and out, with views for miles and so many options inside. But just four years ago, it was a run down storage shed. That is until Katie Elder and David Schumann got engaged and decided to buy the property, turn it into a venue for their own wedding, then make it one of the most sought after venues in North Carolina!

Listen in to hear about how Katie and David met, all about the history of the barn, their wedding, what it’s meant to the town, and what it means to them to run a venue.

And check out these incredible before and after photos!

It will be like a Facebook marketplace, in person! Pop-up shop style.   A $10 VIP ticket gets you a swag bag and early access to shop from 6-7pm. General admission is free, with access from 7-9pm.   Don’t miss out! Tickets are available on Eventbrite right here

If you’re a wedding vendor, go get Honeybook! At A Southern Soiree, we’ve been using Honeybook since February 2015. I think we were one of their very first clients, and it has truly been a life changer. They make proposals and contracts super easy to use on both our side and the client side. I think before Honeybook I would send proposals and contracts by email, and the client would have to mail the contract to us or fax it by efax. Proposals were in no way streamlined either, so this has made our lives so much better. As a consultant, whenever I sign up a vendor client, one of the very first recommendations I make is Honeybook. No need to complicate things – it works, it’s great…just get it. And if you follow this link, you get 50% off your first year of Honeybook, which is nice, but not nearly as nice as all the time you’re going to save. And if you have any questions about my experience, feel free to send me an email to megan@weddingsforreal.com.
