Wedding Planner Tips for Managing Your Energy on Wedding Days

As wedding pros, I've found that our jobs are 30% logistics, 30% vision and execution, and about 40% therapy.

Sure, if the client has hired a full-service planner, the therapy portion may fall into the hands of the planner. But sometimes there's not a planner, or the planner is also causing stress (yikes!), or the couple turns to the nearest person. Ultimately, our couples look to us for reassurance and support, no matter what vendor category we fall into.

Wouldn't it be nice to better understand how to approach those emotional situations while also not getting our own emotions in the mix?

Here are my top tips for managing your energy throughout these stressful and emotional relationships.

Consider your wedding day rituals. Getting into the proper mindset for the day is key! Maybe you have a mantra, or maybe you have a special ritual like a fun pump-up song or a special Starbucks order. Here's my wedding day pump-up playlist!

Maintain positive thoughts throughout the day. If something goes slightly awry, don't get hung up on it. Remember, perfection does not exist, and it's how you react in these moments that matters most. Your thoughts become your feelings, and your feelings become your actions, so positive thoughts are crucial.

Focus on intentional resting. Intentional resting is like meditation with a focus on rest and relaxation. The fun part of this is that you can rest for others, and you don't have to physically be resting (because on a wedding day that's rarely possible, right?). Rest for your couple. Rest for your anxiety around everything going smoothly. Rest for your expectations of the day. This helps you control the energy and let go of the negativity.
