How to Handle Education Overwhelm as a Wedding Pro

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by all the wedding pro education circulating through your inbox, in your Facebook groups, and via in-person industry conferences, you're not alone.

Here are five tips for navigating education overwhelm as a wedding pro.

But before we get into it, let’s travel back in time to before 2020. Back then, there were just a handful of education options in the form of courses, memberships, and certifications. Since then, the industry has grown and expanded… and a lot of new faces came into the education space. Including me!

With the good and bad opportunities, you’ve probably wondered:

  • How do I know who to listen to when multiple educators are saying different things?

  • What content should I be consuming and what’s worth spending money on?

  • How do I avoid procrasti-education? (When you purchase lots of educational materials but never take the time to review or implement them)

Finding the education that’s right for you is kind of like making chocolate chip cookies. There are hundreds of recipes on the internet and in cookbooks that all end in delicious chocolate chip cookies. And if you’re anything like me, you look at a few recipes and customize them to fit what your taste buds crave.

As you begin to hunt for the perfect educational “recipe” for you and your biz, here are my top 5 tips!

  1. Assess what you need. Ask yourself what you truly need guidance and assistance with. If you know what you need right now, then you’ll be more likely to purchase it and actually carve out time to dive in.

  2. Pay attention to themes. When tuning in to education in the form of online articles, podcasts, in-person events, and more, listen to the recurring themes that you hear from educators. When you hear it from many educators, it’s a sign it’s worth paying close attention to.

  3. Not every educator or offering is for you. If it feels off, it probably is, so listen to your gut. If someone’s advice feels like BS, then it’s not for you. Not everything will resonate with you and that's ok.

  4. Test new things. Stay open-minded and embrace the growth mindset. Like chocolate chip cookies, your biz requires its own special recipe, so don’t be afraid to tweak it to your needs.

  5. Lean into your network. If you’re curious to know if something is worthwhile for your time and money, reach out and ask your trusted community.

There’s no one way, one path, or one recipe to build a successful biz. But I have a podcast with 200+ episodes designed to be the pep talk you need on the hard days of building your business. Tune in today to hear more!
